Gate 3: Difficulty at the Beginning - The Gate of Ordering - Human Design

The fundamental challenge of initiation is to transcend confusion and establish order.

With gate 3, you are an agent of change. The possibility of being a mutative force.

This is an individual energy. A unique inner knowing.

An energy of wanting to do things in a new and different way.

With this gate comes a struggle. There is a period of chaos and "trying to figure out the best way forward." Life can feel confusing; being human is confusing. Being confused can leave you feeling like life is hard.

The lesson to learn is that there is nothing wrong with being confused.

It's all about what happens when you let go of controlling the confusion. Learning to live with the chaos, and knowing that when the time is right, there will be order.

Live your mission, hold your vision, stay in your lane, and stop fighting the confusion. Accept it. Love it. The established order that comes after the confusion is coming. Strategy and Authority are leading the way.

Your innovations and changes will not always be accepted. This is why you must be self-empowered first and foremost; from there, others will be empowered by you-doing-you. From that place, you can mutate a person just by them stepping into your aura. If you push others when the timing is incorrect, you might destabilize those around you. It's not about creating a mutation to please or control others but to stand in the transformation for oneself.

The depth of melancholy and a feeling to rush the process is alive and well in this gate. You have the energy to get organized before starting, but the start line gets pushed ahead and ahead. This can cause extreme frustration and difficulty for the mind when the progress is not moving as fast as you would like. It can feel like there needs to be a change now, or you might just die!

But you might also find yourself stuck in the starting phase - always planning and not moving.

As I said, not every mutation will be received by others in the way you hope and wish. Do it for you. Create it for you. Innovate for you. Others may follow.

When you let the changes and transformations happen at the time they are meant to, you can relax knowing you have no deadline. Like a butterfly needs to stay in the cocoon as long as it needs, or a pregnancy needs as long as it does - so does the transformation possible within you.

A personal note on this gate. I have gate 3.2 in my undefined sacral. Placed in my personality mars. (Fun fact: Mars is the planet of immaturity, and gate 3 line 2 is named immaturity L.O.L)

I can see how this energy plays out for me. Both in wanting everything to go faster but also the other side getting stuck in planning mode and not moving when my Authority is saying it's time.

For the longest time, this gate has been hooked up to its harmonic gate 60, so I have, through transits, been affected by this entire mutative channel of 3 - 60. And I find myself creating through my Authority and noticing how my initiations take a hella long time. It feels like forever. And ever. And ever. And ever…

Most of my Human Design journey (if not all of it) has been while hooked up to this transit, and the more I lean into myself, the more I see how hard it is to get started. But then I get started, and I find myself struggling to figure out how it will all come together, trying to put the horse in front of the cart.

And how pushing timing, especially when I want to get out of the melancholy of "nothing happening," never works and leaves me even more melancholic and drained.

But the more I lean into the not knowing and the knowing that I do not control my destiny, all I can do is listen to that internal feeling of truth, that space where I know what is correct for me. And move from there.
